Archers’ House - Watten
Archers’ House (The Maison des archers)
The Archers’ House of Watten displays an exhibition dedicated to vertical pole archery, a typical activity of Flanders and Artois. The object is to knock, with bow and arrows, small cylinders decorated with tricolour feathers, known as "birds", from the top cross-piece of a vertical mast, called a pole, which culminates at about thirty meters (98 foot).
A real showcase for this sport, the “Maison des Archers” tells the story of vertical archery, from its origins to the present day.
This traditional and ancestral sport practiced in French and Belgian Flanders is presented, on 3 levels, with many documents and objects highlighted in this museum constructed in extension to Watten Tourism bureau.
The giant Dédé the Archer awaits you there for the pleasure of young and adults alike !
